Borrowing only superficially from D.H. Lawrence's novel, please give me an AU set amongst the American gentry of late 1920s. Frederick Newendyke is a wealthy young heir, spending his last summer at his family estate before being shipped overseas to compete his education.
He never expects a chance meeting with the gruff, taciturn (lower class) grounds-keeper, Mr. Dimmick. At first, young Freddy doesn't care for the man at all; but that tension between them comes to a head, when they inevitably (and passionately) become lovers.
