Freddy didn’t know if he paid the man or just talked to him, but White came out of the motel office with a key and hustled Freddy into a corner room.

The place was kind of a dump. The radiator was cranked up way too high and the air was wet and hot. The overhead light flickered so loudly White shut it off again right away and Freddy turned on the reading lamp by the bed. White took off his jacket and draped it over the table. Everything in the room seemed like it was leaning close, with its shadows elongated and throwing themselves all over.

“So,” Freddy said. He looked at the jacket, then away. He reached for his cigarettes and remembered he didn’t have them. “What’s the plan, Mr. White Russian with Bailey’s Instead of Cream?”

“Yeah, okay. The fake name was dumb. I get it. Let me start over.” He extended his hand. “My name’s Larry, okay?”

It struck Freddy that whatever the next words out of his mouth were they’d be a lie. Even if he broke the rules and used his own name it would be a lie because Larry wasn’t bullshitting anymore. He was really trying to talk to Freddy, maybe had been for hours, and the prospect of lying, keeping his cover when Larry was dropping his, made him feel a little sick inside. So he didn’t say anything. He stepped up close to Larry and slid his hands over Larry’s shoulders, linking them loosely behind his head. Freddy took a breath, refused to think about it, and then kissed Larry hard, heavy and opened mouthed.

Larry kissed back, immediately, grabbing into Freddy’s hair with one hand and winding his other arm around Freddy’s waist. He was sudden and aggressive and he used his teeth and he made Freddy feel desperate and open and alive. They moved together but went the wrong way and hit the wall, knocking Freddy’s back against it and pinning him there. Freddy unlaced his fingers and dragged his sweating palms down from Larry’s neck, down the length of his chest and his stomach. He pressed against each of Larry’s pockets in turn, identifying the contents by outline. They moved the other way and backed up to the bed. Larry sat and dragged Freddy into his lap. His hands were strong and firm, first taking Freddy’s thighs in a tight grip and then sliding up over his hips to the hot, sweaty skin under his shirt. Larry stroked up over his sides and up his back, his fingertips spread wide, and then Freddy remembered that he was wearing a wire.

Panic shot through him, tensing all his muscles and gasping out in his breath as he pulled away from Larry's mouth. It was in the middle of his chest, with the cords and the battery taped down flat to keep from sliding around, but he brought his hands up over it anyway, compulsively, hunching his shoulders and hiding his face. For a long, terrible moment he was sure his cover was blown, but when he glanced up Larry was looking guilty and sad, refusing to meet his eye.

“Oh baby, no,” Larry said softly. “It's not like that. I didn’t mean for it to be like that.”

He touched the side of Freddy’s neck again and it still felt good, but when Freddy didn’t move he pulled his hand away and shifted him gently and awkwardly out of his lap. “I’ll go,” he said and rose.“I didn’t mean to make you think that…that you had to …” He sighed. “I’ll go,” he said again and backed away, his arms hovering in front of him, like he wanted to stop and also a little like he wanted to touch Freddy’s face. Then he picked up his jacket and left, slamming the door shut behind him.

Freddy sat there in the dark heat for a long time with his hands splayed out across his chest and his stomach. He didn’t like what they felt. Then he called Holdaway and told him everything was okay.

I love this as an AU introduction method... now all Freddy's gotta do is convince them he's got more experience than just selling his ass on a corner. That could be a whole different story in itself.
